GOLD HILL -- Keith Rogers said Thursday he made sure the 20 people he allowed to grow medical marijuana on property he owns in the southern Oregon town of Gold Hill checked out under Oregon's medical marijuana law.

Rogers, an insurance agent, said that didn't stop about 30 federal agents from breaking down doors on his five rental houses, pointing guns at his wife, searching his house and the houses of five renters, bringing in a backhoe to rip out hundreds of plants, and seizing them along with shotguns, cell phones and a tractor.

"I can guarantee you that if Oregon medical marijuana would have came and did a search of us and our papers, they would have happily drove off and did nothing," said Rogers. "It was strictly" the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

"They are throwing their weight around and saying the voters of Oregon don't have any rights."

Officials with DEA in Medford and Seattle and the U.S. Attorney's office in Portland did not immediately return telephone calls and emails from The Associated Press for comment on the Tuesday raid first reported by KTVL-TV in Medford.

Rogers said he was presented with a search warrant that included aerial photos of his property.

The raid seems to conform to guidance offered in U.S. Department of Justice memos directing federal agents to enforce federal drug laws, even in states that have legalized medical marijuana.

A June 29 memo signed by Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole clarifying guidance for federal agents over raids in states with medical marijuana laws says they should not waste their time on individuals such as cancer patients using medical marijuana, but that "prosecution of significant traffickers of illegal drugs, including marijuana, remains a core priority."

Allen St. Pierre, of the National Organization to Legalize Marijuana, said federal agents regularly bust medical marijuana growing sites in California and Washington.

"They have an unspoken rule they tend to employ," St. Pierre said from Washington, D.C. "They are really looking for anything over 100 plants. If it is below 100 plants, it does not invite civil forfeiture the way large patches do."

Rogers said agents told him they seized 451 plants, but that many of them were small or broken, and the real number was closer to 350.

Oregon law allows a grower to have six plants or 24 ounces of processed marijuana for each of up to four patients. Rogers said the paperwork verifying that people growing on his property were within the law was seized by agents.

If each of 20 growers was producing for the maximum, that would be 24 plants each, for a total of 480, which is more than the number he said was seized.

James Bowman, who oversees a medical marijuana plantation that grows for more than 100 plants in nearby Jacksonville, said he was always nervous that federal agents could target his operation.

"We are basically doing civil disobedience against the federal government by doing what we are doing," he said.

Rogers, 58, said he was considering allowing the land to go into foreclosure, because he was having trouble renting the houses on the property, until he allowed one renter to grow medical marijuana. Then he allowed all five renters as well as other people to grow on the property.

"It was agree to what was going on, or let the bank have the property back," he said. "I'm just a guy trying to keep my property. I'm just certain this is gonna push me into bankruptcy."

It contains rock painting images of people swimming estimated to have been created 10,000 years ago during the time of the most recent Ice Age.

She went so far as to stand between me and an IPad unit so I couldn't see it. In the past two days of driving I've only seen two (2) stations selling gasoline at $3.99 and that's it. Average looks to be around $4.05 and people are really feeling it. Keep in mind that at least half the cars on the road are using one third less gas than they were four or five years ago so this sudden jolt of $1 per gallon is a shock. Note: check the Tesla car, the buzz is big time and the tests are in...... 255 mpg, 200mph or so, BUT twice the price of the new Porche which it barely beat in drag races.

NOTE: the BBC ran a much disputed test that showed the Tesla being towed into a garage after only 50 miles so stay tuned.

The quoted corn price is for feed corn, meaning feed for animals (cows and shit). The corn people eat is called sweet corn and prices are not quoted. Today's price is what they call "limit up" meaning the exchanges will not allow a bigger move today and the price is very very high for Sept delivery. This is a tip that balls out inflation for food (conveniently left out of the government reports) will be off the charts. Today's crop report indicated that farmers intend to plant the largest crop since WWII when yields were but 40 bushels per acre. Today the yield is nearly 160 bushels per acre with some reports of 400. Remember that the environmentalist genius crowd wants 15% of the crop for ethanol, a substance that hurts engine performance and just burns, and we see that a crop under supply pressure will be pressed harder by the Liberals who need to teach us a lesson by having high gasoline prices. But what the report doesn't tell us is that the ground in the Midwest is still covered with both ice and snow, two substances that eventually melt and if there is enough melt there are floods and floods make it real hard to plant corn. Today, the opening day of baseball season, there is snow in Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Denver, Cincinnati, etc. etc. places where we expect spring weather. This means planting delays which means that the yields may be compromised. Compromised yields mean even higher prices for the corn that finally comes in. A worst case scenario is starving animals, broke farmers, and famine in parts of the world. Best case will be that God bails us out again, but His patience is wearing thin.......

I'm on Venice Bl., a twelve lane street in LA, and I noticed an old Cadillac loaded with young black guys tail gating me. I assumed they were gangbangers and slowed to five mph and forced them to pass me. Both of us stopped at a stop light, me with nothing in front of me while their car was lodged behind a single car which separated them from making a quick getaway. Crossing the street inside the pedestrian lines was this cute little black kid of around 12 years old. As the kid crossed in front of me I noticed this tiny little smile on his adorable face. Once the kid was past my sight I heard the roar of an automatic weapon, saw windows shatter in the gang car, and as I was ducking their car managed to swerve into traffic and take off. The kid doing the shooting was the cutie pie referred to above and he was casually trotting away. All this happened within a second or two. Had I had a gun in the seat next to me there wouldn't have been time to react. I called the cops the next day and they told me a young man had been dumped near a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and would probably die. When I told him the age of the shooter they weren't surprised because there was a "problem" junior high school nearby. I only relate this to show you how safe you won't be if you carry a gun.

The good: Big Three is far leaner with a workforce that is near competitive with those evil foreign dogs, meaning that their $57 per hour jobs (Yes, $57 per hour for what would be called semi-skilled anywhere else) are nearly safe. Ford made more money in the first six months of this year than in the previous five years combined. G.M. is profitable and preparing for one of the biggest public stock offerings in American history. Even Chrysler, the automaker thought least likely to survive the recession, is hiring new workers

But not to worry because the malcontents populating the UAW always want more from what they see as a corrupt business and will go after GM big time in next year's negotiations. Remember, with this union the work rules dominate and in some shops the rules run for hundreds of pages with each page being grounds for a work stoppage. We'll see what we see. Daily Beast has a more balanced view, keeping in mind that GM doesn't have to follow accounting rules so "who really knows?"

Can you imagine the officiating if FIFA refereeing standards were applied to either the NBA or NFL, much less any amateur or high school team sport in the USA? None of us are ready for the near obscene so-called officiating of the "World" Cup games. We should join any movement to remove FIFA from governing soccer at all. Even without instant replay why not have three or five officials so that goals and off sides could be called effectively and quickly....... Bottom line: soccer is boring and this country will never accept a game where two and three scores represent a "good game" no matter the officiating.
